PRRD transitions North Peace Regional Park to community park

On April 10, the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) Board voted to reclassify the North Peace Regional Park (NPRP) (also called the North Peace Fall Fairgrounds) to a community park. Community parks are intended for people living nearby, while regional parks are significant for everyone in the region. The annual Fall Fair will continue as usual.

The Board also approved the development of a new one-year agreement with the North Peace Fall Fair Society to continue operating the treasured community space.

“We made this change based on what the community told us they wanted,” said Board Chair, Leonard Hiebert. “The North Peace Fall Fair Society has taken great care of this park for decades. We’re happy to keep working with them while making sure the funding better matches who uses the park the most.”

Hudson’s Hope Transfer Station Upgrade Complete

The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) announces the successful completion of the Hudson’s Hope Transfer Station Tier 1 Upgrade Project at 20318 Canyon Road. This significant improvement brings enhanced waste management services to nearby communities.

As part of this upgrade, the recycling station formerly located at Legacy Market has found a new home. All residents can now access the following waste disposal and recycling options at the newly upgraded Hudson’s Hope Transfer Station:

Category 2 and 3 Open Fire Ban Lifted

Starting at 12pm (noon) PDT on Friday, October 4, 2024, the ban on Category 2 and 3 fires will be lifted in the Prince George Fire Centre, which includes the Peace River Regional District.

Let’s all do our part to prevent wildfires and continue to practice safe burning methods and being aware of conditions.
 
For Category 3 fires, obtain a burn registration number by calling 1-888-797-1717 or emailing hpr.1800@gov.bc.ca.
